1. Cleaning
- Wipe the mask with a warm damp cloth after every use.
- To disinfect: use a cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Let it air-dry.
- Do not submerge in water or run through a dishwasher.
- Avoid harsh solvents — acetone, thinner, bleach, or abrasive cleaners will damage the resin.
- Never use direct heat to dry (hair dryer, direct intense sun, oven). Always air-dry at room temperature.
2. Storage
- Store in a protective case or bag when not in use.
- Keep in a dry place at room temperature (do not exceed 50 °C / 122 °F).
- Do not place heavy objects on top of the mask.
- Avoid surfaces that could scratch the finish.
Wearing the mask in the sun during a game is completely safe — the material handles dynamic sun exposure during play without degrading.
The real risk is leaving it abandoned in direct sun for long stretches (e.g. on the substitute bench, on a car dashboard, on the field unattended). Static, intense exposure can affect the material over time.
Best practice: when not in use during a game, keep it in its bag or in the shade.
3. Field use
- Check that the straps are properly adjusted and buckles secured before stepping onto the field.
- The mask is built for contact sports. The fit should be firm but never compressing tissue or causing pain.
- After a strong impact, remove the mask and inspect it visually before continuing play.
- Do not modify the mask — no drilling, sanding, painting, or structural changes without Digital Strings® approval.
- If the athlete feels discomfort, a shift in fit, or pain, stop using it and contact Digital Strings® or the treating physician.
4. Straps and buckles
- Inspect the straps before every session: look for wear, cuts, or loss of elasticity.
- Clean the straps with mild soap and water. Rinse well and air-dry.
- Plastic buckles are replaceable. Contact Digital Strings® if they show deformation, fractures, or loss of grip.
- Correct fit: buckle fully closed, strap firm but not marking the skin or restricting circulation.
- Do not over-tighten the straps to compensate for a poor shell fit — contact Digital Strings® instead.
5. Padding (Micropore)
- The Micropore padding sits directly against the skin: strict hygiene matters.
- Clean between replacements with a soft damp cloth. Don't soak it.
- Replace the Micropore when you see visible wear, persistent dirt, loss of adhesion, or skin irritation.
- Replacements are available through Digital Strings®. Do not substitute with non-approved materials.
6. Service life
- eSUN Hard-Tough UV resin offers strong impact resistance and structural durability.
- Estimated service life: 12 to 18 months under normal use and care.
- Inspect visually after impacts: look for cracks, fissures, or deformation in the shell.
- Cosmetic wear (surface scratches, slight color shifts) does not compromise protective function.
- If structural damage appears, stop using it immediately and contact Digital Strings® for evaluation.
7. Clinical note
This is a protective device, not an immobilization device. Use in competition or training must be explicitly authorized by the athlete's treating physician.
• It does not replace the medical treatment indicated for the underlying injury.
• Any fit adjustment, modification, or component replacement must be coordinated with Digital Strings®.
• If persistent pain, fit changes, or new facial injury occur, stop using it and consult the physician.
• The mask is custom-built to the patient's anatomy: it must not be used by anyone else.
